The word lambada refers both to the rhythm - a fusion of carimbó and merengue - and to the dance, which incorporates elements of forró, samba, merengue and maxixe (the 19th century Brazilian dance which was a tremendous success in Europe). The dance is sexy, yes, but it is danced by all kinds of people, of all ages and sexes, without the "dirty" connotations given to it by very bad Hollywood movies. It's very graceful, fast-paced, and believe me, when you have to move your feet and body that fast on the dance floor without tripping all over yourself and falling on the dance floor, the LAST thing on your mind is sex...Anyway, the rhythm originated in the Amazon, was later adopted by Bahians, who proceeded to create the steps...and the rest is history!

SP is just like New York, it's a mix from every where around the globe. Here in SP we have the biggest colony of Japanese people out of Japan of the world. There's a neiborhood called Liberdade that 90% of people are Japanese. it's so cool...
Well, so you can imagine that we have music for all kind of tastes, here we have a lot of "barzinhos" and dance clubs, we can go to a samba, to dancing ( techno, house, drum bass..), rock (concerts every weekend), Salsa, forró, classic music... it's amazing, the night life in Sao Paulo is incredible!

My japanese ex boyfriend lived in Sao Paulo for several years, he was a plastic surgeon and followed the Pitanguy method, he told me about the large population of japanese ppl there, he loved it too! It definitely sounds like a cosmopolitan city that I'd love to visit!!!!
